- Providing psychiatric care to pediatric patients on our Inpatient Psychiatry Service (IPS)– a 12-bed inpatient unit for patients aged 8-17 admitted for episodes of acute psychiatric illness, utilizing a medical-psychiatric model of care and treats patients with severe psychiatric disorders and co-morbid medical conditions through a multidisciplinary team approach.
- Coordinates, orders and delivers psychiatric care for patients and their families, under the supervision of the IPS Medical Director or designated Psychiatry Attending, and in close collaboration with the Nurse Director, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Staff Nurses, Clinicians, & Dietician. Modalities include psychopharmacology, psychoeducation, brief crisis individual and family interventions, and discharge management.
- Facilitating psychiatric care with daily rounding on patients, performing mental status evaluations, developing diagnostic formulations, prescribing and evaluating psychotropic medications, planning and implementing a comprehensive treatment plan from admission to discharge.
- Performing admission evaluations, discharge summaries, reconciling medication regimes and prescribing at discharge, communicating with referring care providers, writing orders, and documenting daily.
- Performing managed care reviews and participating in case management, regulatory and performance improvement initiatives.
- 8 hours day shifts and every third weekend.
To qualify, you must have:
- Minimum of 5 years of pediatric mental health experience, NP experience preferred
- Master’s degree in Nursing and PNP/FNP or Psychiatric CNS certification
