Position Summary/ Department Summary:
The Financial Report Analyst I performs a wide variety of accounting duties in connection with the preparation of the hospital’s financial statements, management reports, journal transactions and other supporting schedules.
Minimum Qualifications
- Prepares a variety of recurring financial transactions, reports, and analyses related to the hospital operating financial statement and balance sheet including intercompany activity, and other sub ledger activity and schedules in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned accounts and funds, ensuring all activity is recorded, adjustments are calculated, and corrections are made timely and accurately.
- Prepares detailed analyses of general ledger accounts and cost centers, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Provides management with insights on trends, year-over-year changes, and projected impacts. Compiles financial and statistical reports for monthly close, quarterly reviews, year-end audits (including UFR), and for use by department managers, grant sponsors, donors, and federal agencies.
- Organizes and maintains supporting documentation and schedules in various media on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis in preparation for the monthly close, quarterly reviews and year-end audit. This includes journal entries, budget performance reports, detail trial balance reports, journal entry logs, account reconciliation reports, expanded labor cost report, and various other supporting general ledger schedules.
- Effectively communicates with department managers to address questions and concerns related to budget and fund reports. Researches discrepancies in financial reports used by both department and grant managers. Maintains strong collaborative relationships with team members to support group goals and a positive work environment.
- Completes additional projects as assigned.
Education:
Bachelors required – Business, Healthcare Administration or a closely related field required.
Experience:
- Solid technical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Knowledge of basic analytical models, tools and methods.
- A willingness and ability to learn and adopt new systems and technologies supporting Financial Reporting analytics.
- Interest and skill in effectively working with large data sets.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
- Works effectively independently as well as cohesively within a team.
- Adaptive to a changing environment.
- Successfully interact and partner with customers, peers and management.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively meet deadlines.
