This Materials Handler will be responsible for:

  • Receiving materials from vendors and verifying accuracy and count of items received. Identifying and routing items for delivery to final destination. Maintaining related documentation
  • Responding to requests from hospital staff for information regarding deliveries and shipments and expedites orders as necessary
  • Maintaining inventory of medical gases according to required par levels and established schedules. Responding to routine and emergency requests for delivery and retrieval of gas cylinders
  • Delivering supplies and equipment to hospital locations via hospital vehicle, cart and hand.
  • Maintaining professional interactions with customers and materials management staff. Handling hospital and personal packages, mail and patient related items in accordance with established confidentiality policies, procedures and standards
  • Maintaining logs, records and documentation related to various job duties and responsibilities such as the receipt, delivery and distribution of materials and maintenance of equipment. Recording information manually or by computer, according to established procedures
  • Keeping work area neat and orderly and free of fire and safety hazards
  • Furthering knowledge and skills through attendance and participation at conferences, seminars and in‑service programs

To quality, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • A Minimum of 1 year of related work experience
  • The ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds
  • The ability to frequently push and pull equipment weighing over 50 pounds
  • The ability to read and understand written instructions
  • The analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine
  • The ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies, and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel
  • Courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees. More sensitive situations may be referred to others as appropriate
