General Summary
Delivers patient medication orders as directed by a registered pharmacist. Sorts and transports medications throughout the hospital complex/nursing units following established protocols and techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivers individual medications to nursing units and collects new medication orders PRN bags according to established procedures and schedules.
  • Maintains professional interactions with Nursing and Pharmacy Management staff. Work occasionally requires contact with patients and/or visitors which involve courtesy.
  • Handles medications in accordance with established confidentiality policies, procedures and standards.
  • Keeps work area neat and orderly and free of fire and safety hazards.
  • Regularly proofreading and checking documents for accuracy and inputting and retrieving words or data into or from and automated computer system

Minimum Requirements
Education
High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine.
  • Ability to understand and respond to written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to instructions, questions or requests for information.
  • Ability to lift and carrying objects weighing up to twenty pounds.
