This job involves assisting the Culinary Dietitian during Teaching Kitchen classes by supporting patients with culinary skills and managing food preparation and inventory for classes. It also includes ensuring sanitation compliance, performing administrative tasks such as data entry and patient check-ins, and delivering excellent customer service while adhering to hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and Instruction in Culinary Skills: Assist the Culinary Dietitian during Teaching Kitchen classes by supporting patients with basic culinary skills, including knife skills and cooking techniques.
- Food Preparation and Management: Prepare food items in advance of classes, perform inventory, receive and store food deliveries, and maintain stations according to lesson plans.
- Sanitation and Safety Compliance: Clean and sanitize food contact surfaces, equipment, and dishes; adhere to food safety and sanitation standards and maintain related logs.
- Administrative Tasks: Use Electronic Medical Records to check patients into appointments, perform data entry of recipes and ingredients, and provide summaries to the Culinary Dietitian.
- Customer Service and Compliance: Provide positive customer service, comply with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies, and possibly participate in quality improvement projects and goal development.
Minimum Requirements
Experience
- Experience in food Service and/or nutrition related field preferred
Education
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required. Associate’s degree from an ACEND accredited program and/or currently enrolled in Didactic Program in Dietetics from an ACEND accredited program preferred.
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
