The Senior Director of Cloud & Platform Services is a strategic technology executive responsible for setting the enterprise vision and driving the transformation of cloud and foundational platform services. This role leads the modernization, standardization, and long-term sustainability of a unified platform ecosystem that powers clinical, research, and administrative operations.
As a change agent, this leader accelerates the adoption of secure, scalable, and resilient cloud and platform capabilities, ensuring tight alignment with organizational priorities. The role champions enterprise-wide collaboration, drives accountability and financial discipline, and elevates service maturity across critical domains, including cloud services, network connectivity, unified communications, data center and hosting, mobility and wireless technologies, and facilities-related infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute enterprise strategy, vision, and multi-year roadmap for cloud and platform services.
- Establish and govern the cloud operating model, including policies, standards, financial management, and risk controls.
- Provide executive oversight of core platforms, including network services, unified communications, datacenter operations, and connectivity infrastructure.
- Partner with cybersecurity, architecture, application, and operations leaders to ensure security, compliance, performance, and interoperability.
- Lead governance and investment planning, including capacity strategy, modernization, and vendor alignment.
- Drive adoption of standardized cloud and platform services to reduce fragmentation and improve user experience.
- Oversee financial transparency and cost optimization, including budgeting and consumption models.
- Ensure clarity and cohesion across infrastructure services, including networking, collaboration, mobility, and hosting.
- Collaborate with facilities and real estate stakeholders on technology infrastructure planning (e.g., cabling, IDF/MDF, connectivity).
- Lead vendor and partner strategy across cloud and platform ecosystems.
- Build organizational capabilities, operating models, and leadership structures to support scalable services.
- Serve as a senior advisor on cloud strategy, platform modernization, and technology investments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 10+ years of experience, including 5–7 years in leadership roles.
- Expertise in cloud computing, platform services, and modern infrastructure, including governance, security, and operations.
- Prior experience leading a cloud transformation process within a large, highly complex organization.
- Broad knowledge of networking, unified communications, datacenter/hosting, and mobility technologies.
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate business needs into technology strategy.
- Experience with governance, risk, compliance, and service lifecycle management.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional alignment and decision-making.
- Strong financial acumen, including investment planning and cost optimization.
- Executive communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership in organizational design, talent development, and accountability.
- Ability to balance innovation with operational stability in complex environments.
- Experience in regulated, mission-critical environments with high reliability and security requirements.
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
