Position Summary/ Department Summary:
Supervises daily operations for receipt, handling, distribution and storage of supplies, equipment and/or linen for multiple receiving docks. Supervises, plans, organizes and delegates daily work assignments for designated personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs duties and responsibilities required to adequately handle the flow of materials into and out of the hospital. Receives and responds to customer problems and issues.
- Plans, organizes and delegates daily work assignments for materials handlers to meet established production goals and schedules. Monitors work volume, determines priorities and responds to urgent requests in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate flow of goods. Participates actively in the evaluation process for all supervisory staff.
- Maintains logs, records and documentation related to areas of responsibility, such as receipt, delivery and distribution of materials and maintenance of equipment. Records information manually or by computer, according to established procedures.
- Monitors and protects materials against damage, deterioration and theft. Logs and secures valuable items and rotates inventory stock according to established guidelines. Maintains asset logs and ensures the proper completion of all necessary incoming inspections.
- Selects, trains and supervises department personnel. Monitors performance and provides feedback and guidance, as needed. Conducts performance evaluations and initiates personnel actions, such as disciplinary procedures, as warranted. Trains and orients new personnel and communicates changes in hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains professional interactions and promotes teamwork among Materials Management staff. Handles hospital, personal packages and patient related items in accordance with established confidentiality policies, procedures and standards.
- Furthers knowledge and skills through attendance and participation at conferences, seminars and in service programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- High School / GED required
Experience:
- 2 years of experience
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
