Position Summary:
The Senior Safety and Quality Consultant is responsible for managing and executing complex departmental quality and safety projects and initiatives with minimal guidance. This role requires defining, planning, and overseeing all project phases, leading project teams, developing comprehensive quality measurement strategies, and serving as a key communication and relationship manager for departmental and enterprise stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages multiple departmental quality and safety projects and initiatives with minimal supervisory guidance.
  • Directly manages project milestones, deliverables, team contributions, and overall project execution.
  • Defines, plans, and oversees all project phases from initiation to closure.
  • Coordinates day-to-day project activities, including organizing meetings, managing records, and recruiting necessary project staff.
  • Gathers, tracks, and maintains all critical project information (schedules, plans, issue logs, data requests, and communications).
  • Monitors, modifies, and ensures adherence to the project schedule and key deliverables.
  • Manages and oversees the development of key project deliverables, including process workflow diagrams, status reports, communication plans, and project timelines.
  • Develops and executes quality measurement plans and identifies key process indicators.
  • Establishes baseline metrics and implements comprehensive measurement plans.
  • Tracks data details necessary for producing accurate run-charts and data visuals for monitoring progress.
  • Completes quantitative and qualitative analyses to support project objectives and ensure timely completion.
  • Performs data management and serves as a departmental resource on data coordination procedures.
  • Collaborates with senior staff to assist in developing comprehensive workflow processes for projects.
  • Educates and teaches junior staff on quality methodologies and project procedures.
  • Serves as department liaison and relationship manager, facilitating customer and stakeholder relationships with departmental, divisional, and enterprise groups.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience
Experience:

  • Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
  • bachelor’s degree accompanied by at least 4+ years of experience in Quality & Safety, Performance Improvement, or Project Management. * OR, A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in Quality & Safety, Performance Improvement, or Project Management if they do not possess a bachelor’s degree.
  • Knowledge of advanced patient safety and quality science, regulatory and accreditation standards, quasi-experimental design, and complex statistical methods for observational data; deep understanding of enterprise-level quality measurement and benchmarking.
  • Skills in strategic project leadership, advanced analytics and data visualization, developing measurement systems and dashboards, high-stakes communication, professional writing, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Abilities to serve as a senior advisor and subject-matter expert; lead multiple large-scale cross-departmental initiatives; guide organizational quality strategy; mentor staff at all levels; and influence institutional decision-making with minimal supervision.
  • Expert in technical skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio; and ability to effectively utilize data capture tools.

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
