Position Summary
The Budget Analyst II supports the hospital’s budget and reporting operations by assisting with the development, maintenance, monitoring, and analysis of the operating budget. This role works closely with department managers and hospital leadership to prepare financial reports, perform variance analyses, maintain budget-related systems and databases, and support strategic financial decision-making. The position requires strong analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and the ability to work independently on complex reporting projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the annual operating budget.
  • Review and input department budgets for accuracy and compliance with established guidelines.
  • Maintain and reconcile budget systems, general ledger data, and position control reporting systems.
  • Prepare financial analyses, variance analyses, trend reports, financial projections, and ad hoc reports.
  • Support monthly close reporting and distribute analytical reports to hospital leadership.
  • Maintain budget-related databases and reporting structures.
  • Provide guidance and support to department managers regarding budget processes and financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and enhanced budget reporting practices.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in budget analysis, financial reporting, or a similar analytical role.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience with budgetary systems and databases preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

  • Full-time
  • Primarily remote with quarterly in-person meetings

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
