This role plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of medical equipment at a pediatric hospital. You will be responsible for supporting the contracting and sourcing requirements of the entire organization. The position will report to the Director of Supply Chain Adm. You will be involved in the planning, sourcing, procurement, documentation, and installation of medical and non-medical equipment. You will collaborate with various depts, vendors, and healthcare professionals to ensure the hospital’s equipment database is up-to-date with hospital standards.

This Equipment Logistics Planner – Purchasing will be responsible to:

  • Collaborate with all levels of clinical staff, facilities, health technology management, architects and other stakeholders to identify medical and non-medical equipment standards for various departments
  • Maintain standards list in equipment database for the org
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend appropriate equipment and supplies based on the hospital’s requirements, budgetary considerations, and industry best practices
  • Coordinate with suppliers and procurement teams to ensure timely and cost-effective equipment acquisition
  • Knowledge of compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures
  • Develop and assist with the budgetary planning of projects. Monitor expenses, negotiate contacts, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising patient safety or quality of care
  • Ensure equipment standards are being followed from the beginning of the design phase to the go-live phase
  • Collaborate with BCH legal to review equipment contracts as needed
  • Report out and prepares monthly EST/EPT project progress or as needed
  • Benchmark quotes using our benchmarking tool ECRI as well as other available sources
  • Review approved requests coming in via our capital equipment software system Hyperion

in-house

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or a related field and 5 yrs of experience is required. A Master’s degree is preferred
  • Proven experience as an Equipment Planner, Equipment Coordinator, or similar role in a healthcare setting, preferably in a pediatric hospital preferred
  • Strong knowledge of equipment types, specifications, and industry standards
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with various stakeholders
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial principles related to equipment planning and procurement (Hyperion Planning system)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, data analysis and ERP (Peoplesoft)systems
  • Hybrid/remote – 2 days in house at Landmark Center or any job site in MA
