The Senior Epic Reporting Analyst will be responsible for:

  • Serving as a subject-matter expert with deep knowledge of data and reporting needs of the Department of Medicine; core Epic data models, key areas of the Epic application (i.e., the core workflow, work queue, productivity structures), external data sets, and various data management, reporting, and visualization tools.
  • Efficiently extracting and formatting complex information for building out reporting infrastructure and/or presenting data in a meaningful and often interactive form. Under general guidance, independently planning and executing assignments, mitigating risks by proactively seeking guidance from senior team members or management on unusual or highly complex issues.
  • Applying a consultative approach, engaging internal subject-matter experts to understand current and anticipated operational data and reporting needs. Conducting extensive analyses to solve complex problems – which may involve other products and/or require use of varied tools to access, transform, manipulate, and present data. Designing and implementing efficient solutions and guiding end-users in interpreting and utilizing data.
  • Leading or supporting operational reporting. Designing and developing complex analytical/diagnostic reporting solutions to support operational decision-making for strategic planning purposes, often involving interpretation of results for users’ consideration. Performing complex, predictive modeling to inform key decisions.
  • Utilizing reporting and business intelligence tools (e.g., MicroStrategy) to present information in readily consumable and meaningful ways. Advising end-users and leadership on interpretations and use of data for decision-making purposes. Recording decisions and applicable business rules and preparing or assisting in preparing user documentation. Performing unit system testing, integrated testing, and specialty application testing.
  • Managing and/or leading others in extracting data that feeds system actions.
  • Leading or conducting data audits. Investigating and identifying the root cause of discrepancies. Proposing enhancements in support of data integrity and reporting infrastructure.
  • Participating in presentations or updates to leadership across the organization. Engaging in ongoing communications with multiple teams related to supported application and operational processes. Facilitating team meetings to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end-users’ concerns, and upcoming milestones.
  • Providing feedback on policies and best practices affecting data and reporting tools, and mentoring less experienced team members.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Epic certification in first CORE application specific to the role/department required. Second CORE certification, Epic or non-Epic as applicable, specific to the role/department is to be obtained within one year of entry into the role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, or an Associate’s Degree with an additional 2 years of related experience, or a high school diploma/GED with an additional 4 years of related experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 3 years of experience in Epic data analysis and reporting in the targeted application/core data model required.
  • Experience presenting and advising users, clients on technical issues, especially with regard to interpretation and use of data is required.
  • Experience with hospital revenue cycle, finance/billing, patient scheduling, etc.
  • Healthcare or analytical subject matter experience preferred.
