This Cardiovascular Research & Development Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Conceptualizing, designing and developing new medical devices and technologies including surgical and catheter devices, 3D modeling and simulation techniques in collaboration with the team
  • Designing and conducting benchtop experiments to complement and/or refine designs and validating computational modeling studies as part of the development process
  • Working with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and nurses to obtain patient information, understand clinical needs, refine the design and apply the new technologies
  • Collaborating with lab staff, clinicians, and statisticians to design experiments and write protocols
  • Performing statistical analysis of experimental results
  • Preparing oral and written reports for presentation locally and at technical conferences and for publication in scholarly journals
  • Documenting inventions
  • Researching and assisting with preparation of intellectual property filings

To qualify, you must have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Computer Science is required. Master’s degree preferred
  • Expertise in mechanical design and computer modeling and design software
  • Experience prototyping, development of benchtop models and device testing and validation with 3D printing experience a plus
  • Basic knowledge of the mechanics of soft tissues
  • Programming proficiency in one or more scientific computing languages
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with both medical and engineering personnel
  • The ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies
