The Applications Support Specialist I shall be responsible for:

  • Establishing and maintaining a departmental desktop computer network.
  • Providing support and training for departmental computer system applications. Developing and preparing user documentation and training materials.
  • Responding to requests from departmental users for information or assistance regarding network and/or application problems. Monitoring, resolving or escalating help desk issues as appropriate.
  • Facilitating installation of new equipment/software.
  • Managing system security and issuing access as appropriate.
  • Assisting in integrating departmental desktop computers and participating in testing and implementing systems installations and upgrades.
  • Integrating departmental presentation needs via the network.
  • Assisting with electronic learning resources.
  • Monitoring work queues to identify trends and problem areas.
  • Developing and recommending changes in departmental policies and procedures. Communicating new policies and procedures to staff

Schedule: M-F, 800-430; Wed 700-330, e/o Thu 6a-230p. Potential for hybrid after training is complete
Location: First 3 months of training in Boston, then will travel between Waltham, Worcester, Weymouth, Peabody, and other satellites regularly.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in computer science or a closely related field
  • Analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in depth, experienced based cross functional knowledge.
  • Communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, or well developed writing skills.
