The Orthoptist will be responsible for:

  • Providing skilled technical support for the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disorders in patients of all ages while working under the general direction of an ophthalmologist and in accordance with established departmental and professional standards, guidelines and protocols.
  • Performing comprehensive and specialized ophthalmic examinations.
  • Interpreting, evaluating and communicating test results and preparing recommendations for patient treatment and management.
  • Implementing treatment programs and conducting follow‑up for designated patients.
  • Providing support for ophthalmology resident training program.


To qualify, you must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Orthoptics and six months of related work experience.
  • Current certification as an Orthoptist by the American Orthoptic Council (AOC) or equivalent level of certification from an accredited foreign program.
  • The analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems or design relatively complex systems and programs.
  • Communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, and well‑developed writing skills.
  • The ability to work Monday – Friday and some evenings & Saturdays.
  • This position will be for our Boston office
