Children’s Hospital is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Research Assistant to support a project on adolescent substance use, focusing primarily on a study that assesses “pill” taking behaviors contributing to opioid overdose. The Clinical Research Assistant will screen, consent, and recruit participants. They will assist in preparing the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and other regulatory documentation. Additionally, they will support the collection and analysis of qualitative data by conducting interviews, transcribing recordings, coding data, and contributing to the interpretation of findings, all under the supervision of a senior researcher. The candidate will interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The Clinical Research Assistant will be responsible for:
- Coordinating and preparing the necessary Institutional Review Board IRB documentation.
- Recruiting participants based on study criteria.
- Scheduling and conducting qualitative interviews with participants.
- Data management/analysis; recording interviews and transcribing audio files accurately., organizing and managing collected data in a structured system, Coding qualitative data using established coding frameworks, and contributing to the development of analysis reports and presentations.
- Assisting with literature reviews and writing articles, presentations, and summary papers.
- Participates in the training of newly hired research study assistants, as required.
- Performs other miscellaneous administrative duties as assigned or required.
To qualify, you must have:
- A bachelor’s degree in psychology, health, social work, or science-related field (1 or more years experience in qualitative research preferred)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including strong listening and observation skills to capture nuanced information.
- Exemplary attention to detail.
- Experience using Microsoft Office suite and research software tools (proficiency in qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo) preferred).
- Advanced writing skills.
- The ability to take initiative and work independently as well as in a team-based setting.
- Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in which the information or problems are complex.
