Drives and maintains self-contained bloodmobile. Organizes and reviews driving directions to ensure efficiency and accuracy. Assembles, disassembles, and performs quality control on equipment at the blood drive, as needed. Assists in care of donors before, during, and after donation and prepares units for transport to the Hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Driving and maintaining bloodmobile. Operating vehicle in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Transporting staff to blood drive locations.
- Performing routine maintenance and quality checks on vehicle-based bloodmobile equipment as directed, documenting activities, and notifying charge staff of any problems.
- Setting up and maintains the efficient and safe operation of vehicle-based equipment, such as stabilizing jacks, generators, etc.
- Ensuring the timely and complete maintenance and repair of the vehicle by outside vendors.
- Ensuring bloodmobile is stocked with required supplies. Setting up bloodmobile unit and assembling/disassembling equipment for the blood drive.
- Assisting collection staff in care of donors before, during, and after donation.
- Assisting in processing units collected for identification, packaging, labeling, etc. Preparing units for transport to the Hospital.
- Interacting with donors, staff, and drive coordinators in a positive, professional, and customer-friendly manner. May assist donors with paperwork, provide refreshments, etc.
- Organizing and reviewing driving directions to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Monitoring weather and driving conditions and advises coordinator whether drives should be rescheduled due to unsafe weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A High School diploma or GED.
Experience:
- No major driving violations in the last 3 years.
- Work requires previous driving experience with large vehicles.
Licensure:
- Current Massachusetts CDL with Air Brake Endorsement
Certification/Registration Required:
- DOT Health card required and Completion of CPR certification training which may be accomplished after hire.
Shift/hours:
- Per diem position, as needed. Minimum one bloodmobile shift per month. Bloodmobile drives occur Tuesday-Saturday.

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
