- Assessment: Conducting cardiopulmonary exercise testing according to established guidelines. Developing and modifying patient/diagnosis specific testing protocols and individualized patient exercise prescriptions for provider review. Assessing patient response and testing analytics. May review findings with physicians
- Analysis: Independently analyzing data, testing measures and generating clinical reports. Utilizing computerized medical record reporting system to review patient history and obtain previous test results to maximize safety of the exercise test. Reviewing patient history to determine who may be at high risk during the study. Notifying physician/fellow and high-risk team of pending patient tests. Ensuring lab is prepared confirming safety checklist has been followed. Providing accurate preliminary reports for physician utilization. Presenting information obtained from test results to healthcare providers’ team. Performing first echelon maintenance and calibration of medical instrumentation for exercise testing/therapy and data analysis
- Therapy: Conducting exercise therapy and cardiac fitness training in accordance with rehabilitation programs as ordered by providers. Ensuring patient schedule meets prescribed wellness plan
- Training: May provide training materials and programming for instruction of Fellow, student interns, and allied health personnel. Providing in-service training on exercise testing/therapy for Fellows, student interns, and allied health care staff
- Research: May assist providers with analyzing data and test measurements for research projects. Participating in data management and analysis for research projects and publications/presentations. Assisting with the preparation and presentation of scientific reports (abstracts, manuscripts and articles) and manuals. May collaborate with other investigators within organization, and in the community wishing to use the resources of the Cardiopulmonary Exercise Physiology Lab.
To qualify, you must have:
- A Bachelor’s of Science Degree with a concentration in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or a directly related field is required. A strong background in exercise physiology is required
- Exercise Testing experience in a Clinical environment is required
- Master’s of Science Degree strongly preferred
- The analytical skills to gather and interpret clinical patient data
- The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations
- The ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.
