The Healthcare Data Analyst is member of the Neuroscience Center Safety & Quality Program and delivers readily available and actionable data to inform team decision-making in driving a culture of continuous quality improvement for our patients, families, and staff.

In this role, the Healthcare Data Analyst will:

  • Advise and collaborate with the Neuroscience Center staff on analytics of healthcare data, including quality, patient, and financial, to support reporting needs. Research, design, develop, implement, and maintain reporting and analytical systems in the context of the hospital’s clinical and/or financial systems. Process data requests.
  • Provide analysis, management, and methodological support through the development of measurement plans for performance indicators, including process and outcome measures.
  • Perform standardized data validation activities including utilizing benchmarking databases (EPIC, Micro strategy, and PHIS) to ensure the highest quality information for decision-making.
  • Prepare written and graphical reports utilizing appropriate QI data analytics techniques including development of dashboards, scorecards, and databases to track performance over time and highlight data-driven opportunities and recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide QI analytical and technical guidance, education, and mentorship to faculty, residents/fellows, nursing, and other staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of current healthcare analytics industry and hospital trends, tools, and resources to continuously improve Neuroscience Center reporting.

To qualify for this role, please have the following:

  • 2 years of experience using data analytic tools in a health care-related setting; related advanced degree is preferred.
  • Degree in computer science, data analytical fields such as economics, MPH, and data analytics boot camp preferred.

Skills:

  • Data interpretation tools (run, control/statistical control process, Pareto charts, and other measurement tools) and data extraction from data repositories such as EPIC, Microstrategy, and PHIS.
  • Excel (Pivot Tables and Charts); Smart Sheet; SigmaXL or SQC
  • SQL syntax and coding practices and experience with dimensional data modeling concepts used in data warehousing, business intelligence, and business analytics applications is preferred.
  • Analytical skills to translate reporting needs expressed in clinical or operational terms to technical solutions based on existing data, data structures, and query tool functionality.
  • Communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues, mediate fair solutions, provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations, and well-developed writing skills.
