Department Summary:
The Urodynamics team is dedicated to finding answers and developing solutions to many different bladder function problems in children, from the common to the rare and complex. Our specially trained experts have many years of experience working closely with families, referring physicians, and other medical professionals, both at Boston Children’s and in the local, regional, national, and international communities.

Key responsibilites:

  • Assisting clinician during examinations (i.e. obtaining, measuring and recording routine information such as temperature and blood pressure, and performing other related duties according to specific needs of clinic).
  • Working with interdisciplinary team including other clinical assistants, physicians, advanced practice providers, social workers, child life specialist and administrative staff
  • Assisting clinicians during invasive and noninvasive procedures.
  • Transporting patients, supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Maintaining, cleaning and ordering department specific equipment.
  • Scheduling, receiving and/or registering patients, visitors and staff for appointments or procedures.
  • Collecting, verifying and recording required information according to established procedures and instructions.
  • Identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to Registered Nurse, advanced practice provider and or physician.
  • Obtaining records, files and/or results for appointments and entering related information on appropriate computer systems.
  • Answering, screening and routing telephone calls and performing general office support tasks.
  • Working Monday-Friday, 5-8 hour shifts, or 4-10 hour shifts.
  • Rotating to Boston and Waltham sites.

Minimum qualifications:
Education:

  • A HS Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 1 year of Clinical Assistant/Nursing experience.
  • Medical Assistant experience strongly preferred.
  • Procedural experience preferred.

Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
