This Audiology Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Performing assistance during audiological evaluations.
  • Instructing patients and families in the use of hearing technology equipment.
  • Performing the technical component of newborn hearing screenings per Children’s Hospital Boston protocol.
  • Troubleshooting hearing technology devices, recommending repairs, and drafting requests for authorization of parts and repairs.
  • Maintaining organization and recording of hearing technology equipment.
  • Scheduling appointments and meetings.
  • Maintaining organization of clinical equipment and toys, clinical and research files and records.
  • Entering data into databases and extracting data as needed.
  • On occasion, may perform school visits to deliver, troubleshoot, or pick up educational amplification equipment.
  • Newborn hearing screenings, reporting to the Department of Public Health, and completing clerical duties related to the hearing aid program.

To qualify, you must have:

  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders.
  • Eligibility to become licensed as an Audiology Assistant in Massachusetts.
  • The analytical skills and judgment to interpret data and take the appropriate action in circumstances or situations vary.
  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Empathy, and the desire and ability to interact effectively with children and parents.
  • Organization skills, ability to pay attention to detail, and good phone etiquette/customer service.
