The Boston Children’s Hospital Inpatient Psychiatry Service (IPS) Waltham, is a 12-bed, secure inpatient psychiatric unit located in the west wing of the main building, known as 5 West, Waltham, IPS. This unit is licensed by the Massachusetts Dept. of Public Health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Psychosocial assessment for children and adolescents ages 8 to 17
- Counseling and crisis intervention
- Facilitation of the use of hospital and community services
- Resource information and referral, and program development
- Psychosocial consultation to multidisciplinary team
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s degree in social work
Experience:
- One year of social work experience preferred,
- Previous experience with treatment of youth with physical illnesses who also have emotional and/or behavioral challenges preferred
- Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Excellent communication skills are necessary
- Diverse candidates encouraged to apply
Licensure/Certifications:
- LCSW in the state of MA required. LICSW licensure in state of MA preferred
