Position Summary/ Department Summary:
Conducts ongoing surveillance of hospital acquired infection throughout hospital. Educates hospital departments on infection control policies, procedures and practices. Communicates and exchanges information with public health agencies, infection control departments in other hospitals and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) regarding infection control problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing surveillance of healthcare associated infections throughout the hospital.
  • Identify and investigate increases and/or changes in incidence, pattern or type of infections and develop and recommend prevention and control strategies.
  • Provide consultation and education to all levels of staff on infection prevention and control policies, procedures and practices and communicates and exchanges information with public health agencies.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Medical Technology or a closely related field required. Master’s degree a plus.

Experience:

  • Two to three years of previous experience preferred.
  • Pediatrics experience strongly preferred.

Licensure/ Certifications:

  • Certification in Infection Prevention (CIC) preferred.
