Conducts comprehensive ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT coding for designated departments via Work Queues. Functions as an internal resource for Patient Financial Services (PFS) staff for related coding issues and process improvements. Ensures compliance with related regulatory agencies. Performs many special projects or tasks for management, as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT coding for designated departments via Work Queues. Functions as an internal resource for PFS staff for related coding issues and process improvements.
  • Knowledgeable and demonstrates a thorough understanding of the billing policies, procedures, and requirements of government and third-party billing with regard to inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of payer policies.
  • Identifies issues and trends that have a negative/positive impact on operational and financial risk aspects, diagnoses causes, and determines corrective actions.
  • Participates in finance team projects, as needed, including integrated financial system design, development, testing, and implementation. Collaborates with the Revenue Integrity team to identify problem areas, as well as determine opportunities for revenue cycle improvement.
  • Performs other tasks and projects, as requested, including procedural documentation and participation in quality and operational improvement processes.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience is required


Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of relatable experience is required
  • Extensive healthcare revenue cycle operations and/or clinical coding knowledge
