We work closely with the Fetal Care and Surgery Center to coordinate both prenatal consultation and postnatal intensive care for infants with a wide range of prenatally diagnosed conditions. Neonatology attendings, fellows, pediatric surgical residents, and either neonatal nurse practitioners or pediatrician hospitalists are available on the unit 24 hours a day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of the registered nurse the Clinical Assistant (CA) will help provide basic bedside nursing care for complex medical and surgical neonatal patients.
- In collaboration with the registered nurse, the CA may be responsible for obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs, and oxygen saturation measurements, while identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.
- The CA may assist with transporting patients, stocking of supplies and equipment as needed.
- The CA role provides the opportunity to practice in a family centered environment.
- The ability to work a schedule of 12 hour shifts, 50% day/night rotation, every third weekend with holiday requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma
Experience:
- 1-year CA experience, CNA certification, or Nursing Student with at least one clinical rotation.
Licensure/ Certifications:
- Basic Life Support certification (BLS) preferred
