General Summary

The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, Technician Education directs and oversees daily operations of drug distribution for the department in concert with management and pharmacist staff. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, technician educator reports directly to the Clinical Coordinator for Staff Education and Development. They will collaborate with that role, and along with pharmacy leadership and frontline staff, to manage, support, facilitate, and create pharmacy technician training for inpatient BCH pharmacy technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deliver, and update training materials/programs for new and existing pharmacy technicians, including augmented reality and advanced CPhT-Adv training.

  • Manage onboarding and orientation processes, introducing policies, procedures, technology, and regulatory compliance.

  • Schedule and coordinate training sessions, ensuring access to resources, continuing education, and license maintenance.

  • Evaluate technician performance through assessments, observations, and feedback to identify improvement areas.

  • Collaborate on pharmacy policy/procedure development, including USP <795>, <797>, and <800> adherence.

  • Support quality improvement initiatives, pharmacy intern program development, and specialized training (e.g., BCH EPMO white belt).

Minimum Requirements

Education/ Certification

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy.
  • Current certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Healthcareer Association.
  • Completion of a Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy approved training program or a minimum of 500 hours worked as a pharmacy technician trainee

Experience:

  • 5 years of Pharmacy Technician inpatient experience.
