Performs the clinical duties of Audiologist II including audiological diagnosis, case coordination, and treatment for a wide variety of multi‑handicapped and complex cases. Serves as a consultant and educator to interns, externs, and other clinical staff. Maintains administrative responsibility for day-to-day operation of Audiology schedules and patient flow in Boston and Brookline clinics. Administers annual performance evaluations and contributes to hiring and promotion decisions within the department.
This role supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered audiology care while advancing departmental initiatives and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive audiological evaluations including behavioral and physiological testing (e.g., ABR, OAE, speech and middle ear measures).
- Obtain relevant patient history and coordinate interdisciplinary case management plans.
- Counsel patients and families regarding test results, treatment recommendations, and hearing technologies.
- Fit, program, and manage hearing technologies and assistive devices.
- Coordinate care across providers, including documentation and communication with external services.
- Supervise and evaluate audiology staff performance, including graduate externs and new employees.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives related to patient flow and clinical outcomes.
- Maintain oversight of clinical operations including scheduling, staffing coverage, and supply management.
- Contribute to departmental planning for capital equipment, staffing needs, and hiring decisions.
- Participate in continuing education and contribute to program development and clinical research.
- Communicate with patients and families to resolve conflicts.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Doctoral Degree in Audiology
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible and specialized clinical experience, including responsibility for pediatric audiological programs.
Licensure / Certifications:
- Current License in Audiology from the Division of Registration, Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from ASHA or Board Certification from the American Board of Audiology
