Position Summary / Department Summary
In partnership with IT and hospital leadership, the Epic Manager is responsible for delivering high-quality technology solutions through the Epic platform that meet or exceed the needs of clinical and business users. The incumbent is accountable for maintaining and supporting reliable systems and ensuring exceptional service for stakeholders. Additionally, the manager leads product strategy, roadmaps, and metrics within their solution scope to position Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) as an early adopter of new technology offerings. This role requires close collaboration with stakeholders across the enterprise to drive the successful launch, scaling, and adoption of Epic solutions.
Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with clinical, business, and IT stakeholders to understand needs and deliver effective Epic solutions.
  • Oversee design, build, testing, and deployment of Epic applications, configurations, and integrations.
  • Manage upgrades, optimizations, and new feature adoption to ensure system reliability and continuous improvement.
  • Lead integration efforts with third-party systems and coordinate with project managers for smooth implementation.
  • Provide clear communication and updates to staff, leadership, and end-users.
  • Lead and develop a team of analysts, including hiring, training, performance management, and mentorship.
  • Monitor performance metrics, identify process improvements, and recommend training or resource adjustments.
  • Collaborate on product strategy and roadmaps to align Epic solutions with hospital priorities.
  • Drive adoption of best practices and ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements.
  • Represent BCH in Epic forums and pursue ongoing professional development and certifications.

Qualifications
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, data, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • An Associate’s degree plus 2 additional years of related experience, or a high school diploma/GED plus 4 additional years of related experience, may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in EHR application implementation and/or support, including complex builds and integrations.
  • Experience managing multiple EHR applications through full lifecycle (implementation → go-live → optimization).
  • 3–5 years of experience in digital health, healthcare technology, or product support.
  • Experience with product launches, pilots, or implementations.
  • Strong skills in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Proven success in cross-functional collaboration with technical teams, analytics, and vendors.
  • Familiarity with product roadmaps and backlog management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience developing training or user-facing materials preferred.
  • Vendor management experience a plus.
  • Significant domain expertise in areas such as inpatient, ambulatory, finance/billing, or registration/scheduling.

Licensure / Certifications

  • Epic certification in one to two applications relevant to the role/department (specialty certifications as applicable).
