Position Summary/ Department Summary:
Brief Overview
Fulltime Nurse practitioner in Gastroenterology in Needham & North Darthmouth

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with collaborating MDs and members of the interdisciplinary GI team in a direct patient care setting for children with gastrointestinal disorders in our outreach clinics.
  • Providing support via phone triage for outpatient GI issues one weekend per month.
  • Assessing and treating new and return patients, in collaboration with a physician.
  • Acting as primary communicator for patient questions and phone calls; and assisting with prior authorizations and refills.
  • Planning, organizing and overseeing policies and procedures designed to improve patient/family experience.
  • Working 40 hours per week, four 10-hour days plus one weekend per month with Wednesdays off
  • Working at the Needham location plus 2 days per month in North Dartmouth

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

  • Master of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies

Experience:

  • At least one year of RN experience required
  • At least one year of pediatric NP experience strongly preferred
  • Prior experience with pediatric gastroenterology patients strongly preferred
  • Previous experience working with children with chronic illnesses, knowledge of long-term medications and drug interactions preferred
  • Strong physical assessment and diagnostic skills as well as patient education, and coordination of care skills.

Licensure/ Certifications:

  • MA licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse PNP or FNP or as a Physician Assistant
