Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of a physician, the Physician Assistant is responsible for the assessment and management of medical patients including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Inpatient Service Duties: Pre-round and maintain communication with the overnight team. The role requires being the primary and first consult for new consults and follow-up patients on the consultation service. This role will be cross trained for both our genetics and metabolism services.

  2. Outpatient Care: Focusing on patients with rare genetic disorders, including conditions like autism and developmental delays.

  3. Clinical Case Review and Documentation: Review clinical cases with Metabolism attending, manage new and follow-up patients, take charge of inpatient consults, write notes, and update the sign-out document for the Metabolism service.

  4. Collaboration with Physicians: Work closely with Genetics or Metabolism Attending and Genetics or Metabolism service to conduct thorough patient assessments, medical histories, physical exams, and diagnose health and developmental issues.

  5. Quality Improvement Initiatives: Actively participate in Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives to enhance patient care and health outcomes.

    40 hours, flexibility to work with inpatient and outpatient schedule determined by needs of service. No nights, weekends or holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:

  • A Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies

Experience:

  • Prior experience with children with medical complexity preferred but not required.

License/Certification

  • Current Massachusetts PA license
