We are seeking new graduate or early-career Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) to join our APP Clinical Immersion Program in the Acute Cardiac Care Unit (ACCU). This 12-month structured program begins with a 4 month “Boot Camp” focused on building foundational clinical knowledge and skills across inpatient cardiology services in an inpatient front line APP provider role. Following Boot Camp, participants will be immersed in a supported staffing model for 8 months, working rotating day/night shifts with every 3rd weekend rotation. APPs will function as active members of the clinical team while continuing didactic education and skill-building in a supportive, collaborative environment. At the conclusion of the program, participants will transition into permanent APP roles within the department, based on availability. This program is ideal for motivated APPs seeking a career in inpatient pediatric cardiology, advanced cardiac therapies (heart failure, heart transplant, ventricular assist devices), and complex medical care in a world-renowned academic children’s hospital. Anticipated start date of January 2026.
Key Responsibilities
• Work as an inpatient team member with cardiac medical ACCU team and exposure to cardiac surgical ACCU team at Boston Children’s Hospital to provide care for inpatient pediatric patients and families.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive and quality family centered care and clinical oversight in a fast paced, collaborative environment with multiple opportunities for learning.
• 36 hours, up to 50% rotating day/night, every 3rd weekend
Minimal Qualifications
Education
• A Master of Science in Nursing (PNP or FNP) or Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.
Licensure/ Certifications:
- A current MA NP (either a PNP or FNP)
Experience
• 2 – 3 years of nursing or clinical experience in Pediatric or Adult Cardiology, Heart Transplant, ICU or ED preferred.
• New graduate APP’s and APP’s with less than 2 years of experience will be considered. Cardiac and pediatric clinical rotations preferred.
Sign-on bonus: $5,000–$15,000 (prorated for under 40 hours/week). Higher bonus for candidates with significant pediatric or cardiac experience. (For people who have not worked at BCH in the past 2 years.)
