Position Summary
We are currently seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join the Cardiology Consult role at the Heart Center at Boston Children’s Hospital. We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to become a vital part of our team here in Boston. As a team member, you will collaborate with a supportive group of Advanced Practice Providers, Attending Physicians, and Cardiology Fellows. Your primary responsibilities will include providing consultation on patients in the emergency department, various hospital floors, the NICU, and the newborn nurseries and the NICU
s at BWH and BI as well as triaging phone inquiries from primary care doctors and specialists throughout the hospital. An extensive orientation program with a designated preceptor, simulation and didactic classes along with hands-on experience will be offered. Access to in-person and Zoom lectures by Heart Center experts as well as electronic recordings on OpenPediatrics also available.

Key Responsibilities
· Independently and/or in collaboration with the Consult Attending physician, conduct patient assessments, obtain medical histories, perform physical exams, and diagnose health and developmental problems.
· Triage and provide care to infants, children, and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease.
· Develop a cardiology focused assessment and plan for patients presenting to the emergency department.
· Provide specialized consultation and education to staff, patients, and families, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care.
· Provide consultation on patients in the emergency department, various hospital floors, the NICU, and the newborn nurseries and the NICUs at BWH and BI.
· Option for participation in ongoing research and QI projects with cardiology staff members.
· Offer consultation and education to all staff, patients and families.
· 30 hours/.75 FTE

Minimal Qualifications
Education

· A graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

Experience
· A minimum of 2 years of critical care RN, NP or PA experience.- Cardiology experience preferred.
· Possess a solid medical knowledge base for cardiopulmonary acute and intermediate care medicine with an interest in congenital cardiac anomalies.
· Possess critical thinking skills and adaptability on a busy cardiology consult service.
· Communication skills to work collaboratively with medical and surgical colleagues, staff and trainees.

Licensure/Certification
· A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
· PALS and BLS required
· ACLS recommended
· EPIC experience preferred
