Position Summary:
This position is involved in the manufacturing, labeling, and quality control of the blood products collected through the Blood Donor Center and intended for patient transfusion. Timely and safe product manufacturing is required to ensure adequate levels of blood, platelets, plasma, and cryoprecipitate to support the clinical services, cardiac surgeries, cellular therapies, OR cases, Heme/Onc patients, Dana Farber Pediatrics, and ICU services throughout the organization.

Schedule: Monday-Friday from 1230pm – 9:00pm, including rotating weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing, labeling, and quality control of blood products.
  • Timely and safe product manufacturing to ensure adequate levels of blood, platelets, plasma, and cryoprecipitate.
  • Enters and accessions QC specimens using computer systems.
  • Perform, document, and evaluate daily QC and follows procedure when QC is out of range.
  • Perform moderately complex lab testing for QC purposes.
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment such as centrifuges, balances, and freezers.
  • Maintain workplace in a neat and orderly fashion and is detail oriented.
  • Working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and understanding of laboratory software.
  • Has a team mindset and communicates well amongst teammates and leadership.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

  • High School diploma/GED required.

Experience:

  • Clinical experience or experience as a Lab Assistant, Lab Processor, Phlebotomist or similar position is preferred but not required.
