Position Summary
The Scribe will report administratively to the department Practice Administrator, but will report clinically to the physician(s) with whom they work. The primary goal of the medical scribe is to reduce administrative burden on the physician, improve accuracy/timeliness of medical documentation, and optimize provider ability to spend more time interacting with patients.

Key responsibilities

  • Accompanies provider(s) during patient appointments (virtual or on-site) while ensuring a non-disruptive presence.
  • Transcribes comprehensive, high-quality preliminary notes for physician sign-off, including patient history, review of systems, family/social histories, medications, allergies, exam findings, test results, and treatment plans.
  • Submits documentation promptly for physician review and revises based on feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Builds strong working relationships with assigned providers; maintains and updates preference grids, templates, and dot phrases to reflect individual and practice-wide standards.
  • Collaborates with physicians and administrative leadership to incorporate new initiatives and process updates into templates and workflows.
  • Attends meetings and trainings as needed to stay informed on system updates and workflow changes; assists providers with navigation and implementation.
  • Proactively identifies and escalates system or workflow issues to prevent disruptions.
  • Performs related administrative and clerical tasks to support provider efficiency and clinic operations.

Minimum qualifications
Education:

  • A high school level of education, bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience:

  • Medical Terminology and Procedures: Understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and diagnostic tests to accurately transcribe patient interactions.
  • Transcription: Ability to accurately transcribe patient interactions into comprehensive preliminary notes for physician review.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness of transcribed notes, including patient history, medications, and examination findings.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills to develop a close working relationship with providers, incorporate feedback, and communicate effectively with administrative management.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing systems, workflows, and practice-wide initiatives while maintaining consistency and quality in documentation.

Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, 100% Remote
