Simons Searchlight is an international research program studying individuals with rare genetic variants associated with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental disorders. The goal of the program is to collect high-quality, standardized online natural history data and biospecimens and building strong partnerships between researchers, industry and families. In collaboration with the Principal Investigator and other study leadership personnel, the Data Manager II will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, managing, curating, summarizing, and analyzing data for Simons Searchlight. Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the Data Manager II will provide overall and day-to-day management and oversight of all data-related operations, including collection, cleaning, quality control, scoring, metrics, and standardization of study data. The Data Manager II will also organize and disseminate summaries, statistical analyses, and visual representations of study data in support of study-related activities, such as presentations, reports, and tracking study metrics. May supervise junior staff as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads data coordination and management for studies supported by the Clinical Research Program (CRP).
- Assists research biostatisticians with analysis file creation and statistical analyses.
- Supports clinical research reporting for data review, quality control checks, interim and final analysis, and for data release and visualization.
- Designs, develops, and validates databases using application software suitable for supporting clinical research investigations, including large relational databases and web-based systems.
- Supervises data management staff and provides project management support for CRP studies.
- Serves as credible expert/leader for data management best practices. Collaborates with CRP Leader to establish priorities and strategies for resource development and goal setting.
- Provides positive and effective response and contributes to teamwork within and between departments, divisions, programs and other organizations.
- Ensures data-related work in the CRP is performed in conformance with established hospital, program, federal, and state policies and procedures.
- Develop, build and test new surveys and other data collection measures for the research program.
- As needed, attend conferences and community events to accurately represent Simons Searchlight’s data, mission, and progress, while supporting participant engagement; includes occasional weekend work with the ability to flex schedule during the week.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s degree in Health science, public health, epidemiology, or closely related field, including course work in biostatistics or computerized analytic techniques.
Experience:
- 1 year of project management experience and prior experience in supervisory/leadership role in clinical studies is required. 2+ years of experience preferred.
- Analytical skills to handle complex clinical research data in an organized, accurate, and timely manner.
- Knowledge of and proficiency in a range of data management and statistical software e.g. SAS, SPSS, R, Python, relational clinical data management products, web-based EDC.
- Proven capability of attention to detail and accuracy on complex analytical data management.
- Supervisory skills and experience.
- Knowledge of FDA regulations and ICH GCPs guidelines.

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
