This role involves performing standard dental hygiene treatments, conducting oral evaluations, and educating patients on preventive dental health, while ensuring adherence to patient care standards and consulting with licensed dentists for referrals as necessary. Additionally, the position requires managing patient records, including dental radiographs and images, maintaining a clean and safe environment, handling sterile instruments, documenting procedures, and scheduling appointments in compliance with departmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Dental Hygiene Treatments and Oral Evaluations: Perform standard dental hygiene treatments, oral evaluations, and preventive dental health education, ensuring brief examination by a licensed dentist at each visit.

Radiography and Imaging: Take, develop, mount, and file dental radiographs, ensuring adherence to departmental standards for quality and readability, and checking image quality before re-taking.

Patient Education and Communication: Educate patients, parents, and caregivers about dental procedures, post-care treatment, and long-term oral care, modifying instructions to suit age levels as necessary.

Patient Record Management: Review and annotate patient oral, medical, family, and social history; chart teeth and conditions in the electronic dental record as directed.

Environment and Instrumentation: Ensure a clean and safe environment for patient care, handle sterile instruments as per standard procedures, and document and enter charges for procedures performed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Associates degree: Dental Hygiene from an accredited dental hygiene program.
License/Certification:
Current Massachusetts license as a Registered Dental Hygienist R.D.H.
CPR certification required
Experience:
One year of full time experience in pediatric dentistry
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
