The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Boston Children’s Hospital is a 22-bed facility dedicated to the care of children with a wide range of critical illness diagnoses including respiratory failure (severe breathing problems), sepsis (serious infection), nutritional failure, poisoning, congenital anomalies, and life-threatening complications of metabolic diseases and endocrine disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Caring for patients with respiratory insufficiency and/or failure, diabetic ketoacidosis, asthma, heart failure, sepsis, metabolic crisis, and those experiencing medically fragile/technology dependent co-morbidities.
  • Providing care to medical patients with life-threatening and/or potentially life threatening conditions across the age continuum.
  • Working in a collaborative environment with opportunities for both learning and career growth.
  • Practicing family centered care in an ICU environment.
  • 36 hours/week, rotating days/nights and every third weekend.
  • *Start date for this position is April 2026*

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
BSN required

Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year pediatric experience, ICU preferred.
  • Adult ICU or equivalent experience with mechanically ventilated patients strongly considered.
  • Pediatric experience preferred but not required.

Licensure/ Certifications:

  • Massachusetts RN Licensure

Sign On Bonus:

  • This position is eligible for a $10,000.00 sign-on bonus (not eligible for internal candidates and not eligible for former BCH employees who worked here in the past 2 years).

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
