Performs routine and complex procedures on a scheduled and emergency basis following departmental QC/Exam Data Integrity Workflow Expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Examinations and Procedures:
- Reviewing and evaluating requisitions for Diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations.
- Confirming procedure specific information with physician and necessary imaging equipment, software programs, therapeutic equipment and supplies.
- Selecting appropriate equipment and technical factors to optimize image quality and reduce patient radiation exposure.
- Complying with aseptic techniques in specimen collection and handling.
- Preparing procedure tray, imaging parameters, therapeutic equipment and supplies per physician protocol.
- Circulating room during procedures to assist with retrieving and opening surgical items and equipment.
- Performing as physician second scrub if required.
- Testing blood (ACT, blood saturation measurement and blood gases) and ensures daily QC of blood testing.
- Administering contrast agents.
- Assisting physicians with image acquisition during rotational angiography and 3D editing.
- Responsible for the operation of the temporary pacing box/catheter during Cath procedures.
- Following Departmental QC/Exam Data Integrity Workflow Expectations
- Practicing High Reliability Communication techniques.
Patient/Family/Team Relations
- Responding to the uniqueness and clinical condition of the patient.
- Creating a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
- Collaborating with team on patient procedure plan by assessing patients’ physical and emotional status.
Equipment
- Identifying and reports equipment malfunctions.
General:
- Participating in departmental and hospital meetings.
- Complying with ETU.

- Actively participates in simulation scenarios.
- Completing all required competencies and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Furthering professional education and maintaining knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate’s Degree Required in Allied Health
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Allied Health/Science
License Required:
- MA Radiologic Technologist license
Certification/Registration Required:
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)@@BLS certification
Experience:
- Technologist with training in Diagnostic Radiology. Consideration given to Catheterization Lab technician experience.
Shift/hours:
- Part time 36 hours per week, Monday – Friday including on call weekends
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
