Position Summary/ Department Summary:
Performs a variety of state of the art pulmonary function tests on patients of all ages with and without bronchodilators according to pulmonary laboratory protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
• Performs a variety of state-of-the-art pulmonary function tests on patients of all ages with and without bronchodilators. Assembles data collected, performs calculations, assesses the quality of the study, generates reports, informs and discusses results with referring physician.
• Performs sweat testing on patients of all ages. Analysis requires use of analytical bench skills.
• Performs invasive and non invasive measurements of gas exchange. Draws arterial blood gases.
• Continuously assesses patient performance and instrument function during testing.
• Reviews test results to ensure validity and quality. Makes recommendations to requesting provider regarding further testing. Communicates assessments to physician and supervisor.
• Maintains and calibrates equipment, according to standard. Repairs and troubleshoots equipment when possible.
• Processes and verify patient billing statistics, as needed.
• Participates in the training and education of new employees and fellows.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree.

Experience:
One year of basic technical training in pulmonary function testing.

Certification/Registration Preferred
Pulmonary Technologist certification preferred. Must pass Pulmonary Technologist certification test within one year of hiring to administer bronchodilators or hypertonic saline.

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
