Position summary
The Physician Billing Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate submission and collection of physician claims. This role ensures that billing issues are fully investigated and resolved, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and productivity. The Specialist works both independently and collaboratively with the billing team to manage daily workflows, resolve complex claims, and support overall revenue cycle operations.
Key responsibilities
Manage and resolve physician billing claims, ensuring timely and accurate submission and follow-up
Investigate and resolve billing issues, including working with patients, guarantors, and insurance carriers
Respond to inquiries via phone and written communication in a professional and customer-focused manner
Ensure all daily work assignments are completed with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
Identify trends and recommend process improvements to enhance workflow and outcomes
Serve as a subject matter expert and assist in training team members on billing practices and procedures
Participate in special projects and support continuous improvement initiatives
Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and the ability to manage complex assignments independently
Minimum qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Experience:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in multi-specialty physician billing or equivalent medical billing experience
Strong knowledge of electronic claims processing, remittance advice, and payment posting
Understanding of payer requirements, benefits, and coverage guidelines
Proven ability to problem solve, think critically, and manage complex billing scenarios
Strong communication skills and ability to support and train team members
Schedule: Full-time position (standard business hours)

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
