ACCU/Ambulatory Cardiology, Cardiac Consults and Cardiac Procedure Unit Flex APRN

Position Summary
We are seeking a flexible and adaptable Nurse Practitioner to join the Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider team, providing care across inpatient and outpatient areas of the Heart Center. This unique hybrid role offers the opportunity to care for patients in multiple care settings to help with LOA coverage and vacancy needs.

Key Responsibilities
Ambulatory Cardiology
• Provide comprehensive outpatient care to pediatric and young adult patients with congenital and acquired heart disease
• Perform patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and manage chronic cardiac conditions
• Provide patient and family education, including medication management and lifestyle guidance
• Collaborate with cardiologists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate longitudinal care
• Support clinic operations, including follow-up care and care coordination

Cardiac Procedural Unit (CPU)

  • Provide post-procedural care for pediatric and adult patients undergoing:
    • Diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations
    • Electrophysiology procedures
    • Cardiac surgery and other procedures requiring anesthesia
  • Function in the post procedure patient management, observation and discharge

Acute Cardiac Care Unit (ACCU)
• Care for inpatient pediatric and adult patients with cardiac medical conditions, including congenital heart disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, and pre- and post-heart transplant management
• Manage cardiology patients admitted for non-cardiac medical issues in collaboration with consulting services

• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborate to optimize
• Deliver care in a family-centered, team-based environment

Cardiology Consults:
Independently and/or in collaboration with the Consult Attending physician, conduct patient assessments, obtain medical histories, perform physical exams, and diagnose health and developmental problems.
Triage and provide care to infants, children, and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease.
Develop a cardiology focused assessment and plan for patients presenting to the emergency department
Provide specialized consultation and education to staff, patients, and families, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care.
Provide consultation on patients in the emergency department, various hospital floors, the NICU, and the newborn nurseries and the NICUs at BWH and BI
Offer consultation and education to all staff, patients and families.

Schedule
• Full-time, 36 hours/week
• Flex schedule across outpatient clinic and inpatient ACCU coverage
• Inpatient component includes day/night rotation (up to 50%), every 3rd weekend, and holiday coverage (including major holidays)
• Some flexibility in scheduling based on team and clinical needs

Minimal Qualifications
Education
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

Experience
• 1+ year of NP experience preferred
• New graduate NPs considered with 2+ years of inpatient RN experience (preferably pediatric, cardiac, ICU, or ED)

Licensure/Certifications
• Current Massachusetts NP license (PNP or FNP certification)
This role offers a competitive sign-on bonus ranging from: $5,000 to $20,000, based on your experience.

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
