Position Summary/ Department Summary:
The Senior Benefits Analyst plays a key role in the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of complex health and welfare programs. This position serves as a subject matter expert across core benefit offerings and acts as a trusted resource and mentor to team members. Working closely with vendors, managers, and employees, the Senior Benefits Analyst helps deliver a competitive, compliant, and clearly communicated benefits program.
With strong analytical expertise and a proactive approach to plan governance, this role ensures regulatory compliance, enhances the employee experience, and leverages data-driven insights to inform strategic benefits decisions and continuous program improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages day-to-day administration of health and welfare benefit programs. Partner with leadership to design, evaluate, and enhance benefit offerings aligned with organizational goals and workforce needs
- Reconciles and interprets benefit vendor invoices to payroll deduction activity ensuring accuracy and data consistency. Assist in annual budget planning and provides reporting, information and recommendations for funding.
- Assists HRIS team with configuration and maintenance of benefit plans, eligibility rules, life events and integrations in Workday. Troubleshoots system issues and partners with Benefits/HRIS/IT teams on enhancements and updates. Supports Workday releases, testing cycles and system upgrades.
- Serves as SME point for complex activities of external benefit administrators and vendors.
- Provides insight into annual benefits plan review by conducting audits, monitoring claims, eligibility files and administrative experience. Analyzes costs and reports variances.
- Coordinates and submits external data requests and submissions on a timely/accurate basis, resolves and reconciles any data issues
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including but not limited to ACA, ERISA, Cobra, HIPAA. Prepares and reviews required filings, audits and reporting. Monitors legislative changes impacting healthcare benefits. Administers benefit plans in compliance with plan documents and contracts.
- Acts as a primary liaison between the organization and third-party benefits providers, brokers and consultants. Supports RFP processes and vendor evaluations.
- Works with HRIS and vendors to ensure accurate and timely benefit data transmission
- Researches and resolves complex employee benefit inquiries and escalations.
- Assists in development of clear and engaging benefits communications tailored to a diverse healthcare workforce. Support wellbeing, employee engagement and Open Enrollment initiatives and events.
- Maintains collaborative team relationships with peers and colleagues to effectively contribute to team goals, and to help foster a positive work environment.
- Develops and present presentations to employee and stakeholder groups as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- Five years of progressive experience in benefits administration required.
- Workday ERP Implementation and administration experience preferred.
Licensure/ Certifications:
- CEBS, SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
