This position is responsible for the ordering, receipt, storage and maintenance of patient care area supply rooms. This role acts as the front-line liaison to patient care services for all supply related activities. Will also provide the ongoing upkeep of the supply rooms assigned for expiration dates, optimal stocking levels, and adherence to all supply storage requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Uses ParEx inventory module to assess supply needs on hundreds of items in multiple clinical areas. Builds and maintains familiarity with each supply item including nomenclature, unit of measure, and product family and be able to communicate effectively with clinical staff.
Utilizes equipment to replenish all supply items daily and provide feedback on any stock shortages. Communicates usage trends, shortages, picking errors and damaged items to supervision and the clinical areas.
Monitors environment for compliance with regulatory agencies, including JCAHO.
May access hospital computer system to communicate with staff about supply and equipment changes. Reviews Materials Matters to ensure compliance with clinical products’ changes.
Initiates, tracks and verifies receipt of supply orders. Assures that all necessary information pertaining to inventory issuance and returns is accurately entered into the MMIS. Calculate unit of measure conversion rates.
Contacts customers on a daily basis to monitor any service concerns individual departments may be experiencing as it relates to supply chain management. Conducts analysis to eliminate continuing issues.
Maintains a neat, orderly work environment in each of the clinical areas serviced, including rotation of stock, validation of expiration dates, disposable of any refuse, adherence to storage requirements, and neatening of existing stock. Keeps areas free of fire and safety hazards.
Creates weekly reports for the areas serviced. Provides metrics to include service calls, validation of supply costs, rotation of stock (stock turns), and expiration date validation.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
- 2 years of materials management, customer relations, or closely related experience is required.
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
