Position Summary:
The Surgical Clinical Research Core at Boston Children’s Hospital supports the research mission of the Department of Surgery by providing access to a wide range of research tools, collaborating with providers to develop new studies, and coordinating multiple ongoing projects. Current initiatives include the Prospective Multisite Study of Quality of Life in Pediatric Intestinal Failure, Pilonidal Care Center, Hidradenitis study, and Pectus Clinic.

We are seeking a motivated Research Intern to join our highly collaborative research team. This position provides hands-on exposure to clinical research and offers opportunities to work closely with investigators, clinicians, and research staff in support of ongoing surgical research projects. The internship is ideal for students or trainees interested in clinical research, medicine, public health, or healthcare-related fields.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with patient recruitment and study-related communications in clinic settings
  • Support the preparation and administration of patient and family surveys
  • Perform data entry and data verification in REDCap
  • Assist with the abstraction of clinical data from EPIC under the supervision of research staff
  • Review electronic and paper-based surveys for completeness and accuracy
  • Help identify and resolve missing data for ongoing projects
  • Conduct literature reviews to support study development and research initiatives
  • Assist with the preparation of abstracts, presentations, and manuscript drafting
  • Attend and participate in weekly research team and provider meetings
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary research teams while developing independent research skills


Qualifications:

  • Interest in clinical research, medicine, public health, or related healthcare fields
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; familiarity with REDCap or EPIC is a plus but not required

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
