Position Summary / Department Summary
We are seeking a per diem Surgical Technologist to join the team in our Pediatric Operating Room in Waltham.

As a Surgical Technologist in our pediatric surgical facility, you will play a vital role in supporting safe, efficient, and compassionate surgical care to supporting the unique needs of children and families. Working closely with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team, you will help prepare the operating room, maintain a sterile environment, and ensure procedures run smoothly for patients and families. This position requires strong technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, family-centered setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of pediatric surgical procedures, instrumentation, sterile technique, infection prevention, and patient safety practices to support safe, high-quality surgical care.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and the perioperative team while maintaining strong communication in a fast-paced surgical environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail, organization, and the ability to remain calm and focused during high-pressure situations.
  • Support a family-centered approach to care by providing compassionate, patient-focused service to pediatric patients and their families.
  • Prepare and organize the operating room for pediatric surgical procedures
  • Maintain sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment
  • Pass instruments and supplies during surgery
  • Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts according to policy
  • Remove contaminated items and restock supplies after procedures
  • Collaborate with the perioperative team to support safe, high-quality patient care
  • Scheduling flexibility

Minimum Qualifications
Experience

  • 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience required
  • Pediatric surgical experience required

Licensure / Certification

  • Certificate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program required, or equivalent experience

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
