Performs general radiographic examinations in Radiology Department as well as operation of mobile x ray units in the operating room, emergency room and on in patient units.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviews and evaluates requisitions for radiographic examinations, determining appropriateness of examinations requested given the diagnosis and clinical signs. Selects radiographic technique appropriate to patient diagnosis, age and other relevant factors. Positions and immobilizes patients of all age groups and disease categories to provide maximum radiographic diagnostic information.
- Explains examination and advises patients and families regarding the examination and radiation exposure. Assesses patient and families ability to participate in the examination and adjusts accordingly.
- Observes radiation safety standards (ALARA), observes hospital patient safety policies and identifies and reports changes in patient condition.
- Operates radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment within main department and mobile equipment in the operating room, emergency room and on in patient units. Operates related ancillary equipment and computers. Reports malfunctioning equipment to supervisor and/or hospital engineering department.
- Furthers professional education and maintains knowledge of current hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Licensure/ Certifications:
Current Massachusetts Temporary licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
