The Clinical Research Assistant will primarily work within the Allergy Section within the Division of Immunology to coordinate a broad portfolio of projects related to understanding and improving outcomes of children living with hidradenitis suppurativa, atopic dermatitis, eosinophilic esophagitis, and food allergies. The clinical research assistant will have opportunities to gain experience in other departments including Dermatology and Gastroenterology. The types of clinical studies supported by the clinical research assistant team range from observational studies to clinical trials.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Principal Investigator(s) (PIs) in implementing clinical research studies
- Recruit, consent, and coordinate study visits for participants
- Provide detailed background information regarding studies to families, communicate all policies and procedures, and respond to all inquiries.
- Serve as liaison to the families/patients in the research studies guiding and advising them throughout each phase of the study.
- Conduct clinical assessments such as skin prick testing, peak flow measurements, and height and weight
- Perform data collection, data entry, and data quality checks for clinical research studies
- Assist in preparation of institutional review board (IRB) protocol submissions and amendments
- Maintain regulatory binders, source documents, and study supplies
- Assist in development and maintenance of surveys, forms, and instruments for research purposes
- Participate in weekly research coordinator team meetings and present summaries of recruitment progress and study updates
- Perform other miscellaneous administrative duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
A two-year commitment preferable
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
Experience:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) is required
- Experience communicating or working with patients is preferred but not required
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
