This Research Assistant III will be responsible for:
- Performing a variety of routine laboratory experiments and procedures including mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, genomic library preparation, and CRISPR editing.
- Maintenance and experimentation with genetically engineered mice.
- Independently decides which techniques may be appropriate for specific experimental investigations and carries out those experiments with minimal supervision or independently.
- Critically evaluates experimental results independently and provides summaries or interpretation of results to PI.
- Conducts literature searches and reviews, compiling information for journals and suggesting uses for new techniques to the P.I.
- Attends courses, lectures, and conferences to further own knowledge of research and laboratory techniques, consulting with other researchers and technicians to exchange information.
- Coaches RA I and RA II, interns, Co Ops on basic lab techniques.
- Calculates, graphs and compiles data obtained, maintaining records and logs of work performed; uses computer to perform statistical analyses.
- Inventory management and ordering of labs supplies, ensuring timely ordering and availability to support ongoing research.
In order to qualify, you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR Master’s and 1 year of relevant work experience.
- Previous experience with mice highly preferred.
- Analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in depth, experienced based knowledge.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to make a 3-year commitment
