Position Summary/ Department Summary: Inpatient Surgical (Temporary Maternity leave coverage) Child Life Specialist *assignment ending mid-February 2026

Key Responsibilities:
The Child Life Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Participating in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients’ psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitating adjustment to health care experiences for patients.
  • Serving as member of multidisciplinary team.
  • Delegating work assignments to volunteers and participating in clinical training of student interns.

Minimum Qualifications Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.
600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.

Experience: General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced‑based knowledge. Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.

Licensure/ Certifications: Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire
