Position Summary
Join the Cardiology Data Science team and play a key role in turning healthcare data into actionable insights that drive better patient care and outcomes. This role supports departmental decision-making by aggregating, analyzing, and reporting on clinical, quality, patient, and financial data within a complex health system. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on experience working in a hospital or health system environment and has strong operational knowledge of healthcare workflows, clinical quality metrics, and performance improvement initiatives.

This position is well suited for an inquisitive, self-starting problem solver who enjoys digging into data, improving processes, and supporting quality initiatives. Responsibilities include designing and maintaining reports and analytical tools across clinical and financial systems, supporting departmental reporting needs, and providing data and administrative support to the Director of Heart Center Quality Improvement, including ad hoc analytical requests.

Key responsibilities      

  • Assists in the research, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of reporting and analytical tools in the context of the Department and hospital’s clinical and/or financial systems. Collaborates with clinical and administrative staff to ensure that reports are timely, accurate, meaningful, and interpretable..
  • Performs standardized data validation activities to ensure the accuracy of information prior to sharing with audiences and the highest quality information for decision-making
  • Assists in the creation of databases as needed and maintains a valid, accurate data repository to ensure availability of required information, including the Cardiology data repository, ensuring it is accurate and accessible for applicable users Assists in the definition of key data elements, data collection procedures, and integrity of databases. Improves and maintains the production environment for tasks and applications.           
  • Works with team members to develop insightful display of data using visualization tools.
  • Assists in the interpretation of data, and provides team with data-driven recommendations.
  • Provides administrative support to the Director of Heart Center QI, including scheduling, communications, meeting preparation, and coordination of departmental initiatives.


Minimum qualifications
Education:

  • High School / GED required. Bachelors preferred.

Experience:   

  • Two years of experience with Data Analytics tools     
  • Understanding of basic relational database concepts, SQL syntax, and coding practices. In addition, familiarity with dimensional data modeling concepts used in data warehousing, business intelligence, and business analytics applications.   
  • Ability to translate reporting needs expressed in clinical or operational terms to technical solutions based on existing data, data structures, and query tool functionality.   


Schedule:
 40 hours weekly, Monday- Friday, hours between 8 am and 5pm. Hybrid, requiring at least 1x a week onsite in Boston, MA

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
