Position Summary/ Department Summary:
The Department of Ophthalmology at Boston Children’s Hospital offers the latest and best in diagnostics and care for children with vision problems, no matter how simple or complex. We specialize in treating cataracts in babies and children, traumatic eye injuries, juvenile glaucoma and a variety of other conditions and focus on patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities:
- Working 20hours/week alongside the BCH Ophthalmology administrative team and their providers.
- Focusing on helping the team with daily administrative tasks this internship will build competencies in patient communication/interaction, scheduling, chart prep/oversight, as well as many other aspects of Hospital Administration.
- After training period, opportunities to shadow other areas of the department allowing for a more well-rounded overview of the different opportunities in healthcare.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program.
- Healthcare administration majors/minors preferred.
Experience:
- The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
- The ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.
Schedule: To be determined in coordination with supervisor/department needs. Note that one 3-day technical training may be held for full days over the first 1-3 weeks that are on set days.
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
